It was a delight to listen to legendary folk singer of Sindh the late Sohrab Faqir’s son Rajab Faqir belt out catchy Sindhi folk numbers Rano and Deedar Daikhan at a concert organised by the DCO, Khairpur for the delegates of an international workshop on conserving cultural heritage of Sindh at the DCO House.
Rajab Faqir sang with complete abandon and with flair that can only be associated with someone who is rooted in his soil. This chap and his group (and many more of such unacknowledged artists) need to be brought into the limelight so that folk music is allowed to flourish. He could well be the next big thing.
