SUKKUR, Dec 7: A Mukhtiarkar (revenue official) was thrashed by flood-affected people in Thul, Jacobabad district, on Monday.

Mukhtiarkar Abdul Malik Khoso was distributing relief goods, crop seeds and fertiliser among the flood-affected people at his office when he was attacked.

Later, a heavy contingent of police reached there and used batons to disperse the flood-affected people. The Mukhtiarkar, who had received minor injuries, was taken to local hospital where he was provided first aid.

Talking to police officials, the flood survivors alleged that the Mukhtiarkar was distributing relief goods, seeds and fertiliser among people selected by him who neither had any land nor belonged to the area.

On the other hand, they added, he misbehaved with flood survivors during distribution of relief goods.

They told the police officials that earlier they had complained against the Mukhtiarkar to the district administration but to no avail.

Officials of the district administration and Mukhtiarkar could not be for comments despite attempts.
