PESHAWAR, Sept 25: A high-level meeting held here on Tuesday directed the concerned authorities to finalize and complete the process of the constitution of the Provincial Public Safety Commission, Provincial Police Complaint Authority, Criminal Justice Coordination Committee, and Citizens Police Liaison Committees, under the Police Order 2002 by the end of the month.

The meeting, presided over by the NWFP Minister for Law, Local Government and Rural Development, Athar Minallah, reviewed the progress on the implementation of the Police Order and the constitution of the committees under it.

The meeting also discussed the administrative and financial powers of the provincial and capital police officers and the organization of police on functional basis, said an official statement.

The minister directed the authorities concerned to complete the process by Oct 1, 2002.

Besides Inspector General of Police, Saeed Khan, Secretary Home, Brig Mehmood Shah, Secretary Law, Salim Khan, and Secretary Local Government, Baz Muhammad Khattak, the meeting was also attended by Additional Secretary Finance, Arshad Mirza, and Additional Secretary Local Government, Amjad Shahid Afridi.
