PESHAWAR, Dec 6: A number of Muslim states are the possible target of the United States, which has launched the so-called war on terrorism just to maintain its supremacy over the entire world, said a noted Malaysian scholar Dr Chandra Muzaffar here on Monday.
“The Muslims across the world have been faced with many problems and one of them is the US hegemony, which is a big challenge for them,” said Dr Muzaffar while speaking at a seminar titled “The Role of Intellectuals in Muslim Societies”. Employees' Federation of Pakistan (EFP) arranged the seminar in collaboration with International Islamic University Islamabad and Peshawar Press Club.
Dr Muzaffar, who is president of the 'International Movement for a Just World' and professor of Global Studies at the Science University of Malaysia, said that a number of Muslim states were possible targets of the United States.
He said that the Muslims needed to be practical, aware, cautious and hardworking to face these challenges successfully.
He said that Muslims should recall glorious Islamic History and move on the right path with good faith.
The professor said that it was found from study of Islamic history that Muslims had always emphasised thinking and reflection and that they were more developed compared to other nations.
He said that the Muslims should develop modern technology to steer themselves out of the present crisis.
He regretted that today Muslims had forgotten their history and left these important things of thinking and reflection and that was why they could not compete developed nations.
EFP president Haji Mohammad Javaid, former chief secretary Mohammad Abdullah, PPC president Shamim Shahid and Dr Mumtaz also shared their views in the seminar.
