KARACHI: Two compartments of India-bound Thar Express derailed after hitting an explosive device near Dhabeji late Friday night. At least 155 passengers were on board the train.

However, no loss of life was reported in the incident.

Railway authorities said a low intensity bomb had struck the train near the Dhabeji Station in Thatta hours after it left Karachi’s Karachi Cantonment Railway Station for India.

The train’s two compartments were derailed as a result of the explosion.

Police said two bombs had been planted by militants on the railway track. One bomb went off damaging a portion of the track, while the second bomb was defused later.

Authorities detached the derailed bogies after which the train proceeded to India.
