LAHORE, Nov 11: JUI amir Maulana Fazlur Rehman says the struggle being made by religious parties is, in fact, a campaign for the solidarity of the country and the US or the Pakistan government cannot interrupt it.

A statement issued by him on Sunday said the country could not be left to the rulers whose hands were stained with innocent people’s blood. He believed that sacrifices being rendered by people would not go waste.

Reviling unprovoked firing on people as terrorism, the JUI leader said the nation would continue its struggle for the supremacy of Islam.

He congratulated all those who had played a role in making the Nov 9 strike a success.

He declared that the policy to be adopted by religious parties in the future would be more vigorous and the government would not be able to blunt it.

Meanwhile, a PML-QA leader has described as ‘peanuts’ the $1billion assistance announced by the US for Pakistan.

Former MNA Mian Abdul Waheed said the meagre assistance indicated that the US and its allies had no interest in the economic stability of Pakistan.

He demanded that Pakistan’s outstanding loans should be written off and a better economic package be announced for it. Also, he said, steps should be taken to promote foreign investment.

He praised President Musharraf for the speech he delivered in the United Nations General Assembly. —Staff Reporter
