RAWALPINDI, Nov 23: A court bailiff and a team of Mangla police recovered a woman from the house of her father-in-law on Tuesday and produced her before the Rawalpindi Bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC).

Asif Hussain, a close relative of Saba had petitioned the court for her recovery, alleging that her in-laws had been treating her inhumanly.

Citing Mangla police station house officer, her father-in-law Mohammad Basharat and Tikka Khan, a relative of Basharat, as respondents the petitioner prayed to the court to secure his cousin freedom from the alleged custody.

“Marriage of Saba was arranged with Nadeem Akhtar who has been living in Hong Kong for the last five years. She has filed a suit for dissolution of marriage with a competent court of law in Gujar Khan,” the petitioner maintained before the court.

On learning of her intention of dissolving the marriage, the petitioner alleged Sabas in-laws started torturing her and detained her in their house.Justice Mamoon Rasheed Sheikh sent Saba to Darul Amman along with her four-year-old daughter after she refused to go along with her parents and said the court would again take up the matter on Friday.

“I neither want to go with my parents nor to live with my in-laws,” said Saba, a resident of Jehlum after the court directed her to give second thought to her decision. —Our Reporter
