ISLAMABAD, Nov 13: The interior ministry on Saturday made production of CNIC for entering high security zone of capital mandatory.
According to a handout issued here, a meeting held at the ministry with Interior Minister Rehman Malik in the chair decided to strengthen the security of capital, especially in and around Diplomatic Enclave and high security zone, commonly known as Red Zone.
The meeting decided to ban entry of people without CNIC in the sensitive areas.
The meeting further decided to mount affective vigilance and surveillance around the hostels affiliated with religious seminaries and keep the record of the visitors of the hostels.
Heavy traffic –trucks and passenger buses – without proper and relevant documents would not be allowed to enter capital. Besides, an effective mechanism will also be adopted for checking and scanning of heavy traffic before their entry in Islamabad.
The interior minister showed satisfaction over the security measures taken in capital to maintain law and order. However, he directed the capital's chief commissioner and inspector general of police to further strengthen the security measures and make it foolproof.
