LAHORE, Sept 18: Police on Wednesday registered a murder case against a woman on charges of killing her suckling.

The woman, who identified herself first as Ayesha and then Irshad Bibi, 24, had attempted suicide by jumping off the fourth floor of a Mozang hospital on Tuesday.

Her suckling was also with her. She sustained injuries while the suckling died. The police were called out who sent the body to the city mortuary for autopsy. The woman was admitted to the Mayo Hospital.

The police said they could not get the statement of the woman because she was in coma. They claimed the woman was a drug addict.

Further investigation is under way.

MURDER: The decomposed body of a man was recovered from his house at Papparmandi in Rang Mahal on Wednesday.

The police said Anees lived alone in the house after his wife death four months ago. An odour emanating from the house attracted neighbours who called out the police.

The police said the man had been hit with a blunt weapon in the head. The body was sent to the city mortuary for autopsy. A case was registered.

BURNT: A woman sustained critical injuries after her husband allegedly set her afire in Baghbanpura on Wednesday.

The police said Shafi used to quarrel with his wife Shakeela, 25, over trivial issues. He doused her with kerosene and set her afire after an exchange of harsh words.

The woman was rushed to the Mayo Hospital where her condition was stated to be critical. A case was registered against the accused with no arrest.

FOUND DEAD: An elderly man, around 70, unidentified so far, was found dead along Ravi Road on Wednesday.

The police said no injury or torture mark was found on the body and sent it to the city mortuary for autopsy.
