SIALKOT, Sept 18: The returning officer for PP-127 on Wednesday summoned the Pasrur Tehsil Nazim for “violation of the EC code of conduct by running the election campaign of a PML-QA candidate.”

The RO, Civil Judge Muhammad Kaleem Shaikh, directed Pasrur Tehsil Nazim Rana Maqsood Ijaz to immediately appear before him to clarify his position.

MMA’s candidate Rana Muhammad Shafiq Pasruri had alleged in his application to RO that the Nazim was extending all out support to the PML-QA’s candidate in PP-127, and also using his official jeep for the purpose.

Meanwhile, the PML-N’s chief organizer and a candidate from NA-117 (Narowal), Ahsan Iqbal, has demanded that Narowal District Nazim Col Javaid Safdar Kahiloon (retired) should be sacked immediately and awarded two years imprisonment for violating the Election Commission’s code of conduct.

In a statement issued from Narowal, Ahsan Iqbal said he had attached proofs with the application sent to Election Commission of Pakistan for legal action against the Nazim.

Ahsan Iqbal alleged that Col Javaid Safdar (retired) was officially running the election campaign of his wife Begum Riffat Javaid, a PML-QA candidate from NA-117.

The Nazim has directed all employees of the Narowal district government to attend the election meetings of Begum Riffat.

Mr Kahiloon has also announced a special grant of Rs150,000 for each union council Nazim and Rs50,000 for each councillor of the union councils in the NA-117 constituency.

The election posters and pamphlets of Begum Riffat, carrying the photo of her husband Javaid Safdar, have been displayed everywhere in constituency NA-117.

The vehicles of Narowal district government were being used for the electioneering of the district Nazim’s wife, Ahsan Iqbal added.

Narowal District Nazim Col Javaid Safdar Kahiloon (retired) was not available for comments at his Narowal office or Lahore residence.
