GUJRAT, Sept 18: Three sisters were burnt alive on Tuesday when fireworks material blew up in Qasaban locality of Mungowal, Kunjah, 30 kms from here.

Daughters of Sadiq Darugar were manufacturing crackers in their house. Suddenly, the explosive material caught fire and a massive blast took place which also blew up the roof. As a result, Safia (20), Moani (18) and Bushra (17) died on the spot while their servant Mehmood received critical wounds. The injured was shifted to a hospital in Lahore for his critical condition.

KILLED: A minor school boy died while his brother and sister sustained injuries in an accident on the Jalalpur Jattan-Tanda Road on Tuesday.

Safdar along with his three minor children was on way to school by a motorcycle (GAC-5035). Near Lakhanwala, a speeding truck (GLT-6271) rammed into Safdar’s two-wheeler, killing Balawal (7) instantly and injuring Talmeez and Neelam.

Police have registered a case against the absconding truck driver.

RESENTMENT: Hundreds of PPP activists, including Nazimeen, Naib Nazimeen and councillors, on Wednesday gave their vent to discontent against the excesses of Karrianwala policemen.

They alleged that police had arrested and manhandled union council Nazim Abdul Hameed Butt and councillors Hasan Raza and Aslam Tahir without any justification.

Meanwhile, a group of workers led by Nazimeen including Tahirul Mulk, Riaz Dar, Dr Shakil Raza and Rasheed Jaral gathered at district courts and chanted slogans against the police. They asked the police high-ups to immediately suspend the entire staff of the Karrianwala police.
