SWABI, Nov 2: Information minister Mian Iftikhar Hussain on Tuesday condemned the Swabi Police Lines suicide attack and claimed that the network of terrorists had been destroyed and now the remaining terrorists were targeting peaceful regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

“Coordinated efforts of the federal and provincial governments have already broken the network of terrorists and the Swabi incident is linked with the overall terrorist activities in the country,” the information minister said this during his visit to the police lines here along with provincial minister Shaid Khan and ANP leader Azam Hoti.

Mr Hussain also held a meeting with the district officials at the office of district coordination officer Abdul Jabar. Insiders said that the meeting discussed security measures by the district police to meet with any eventuality.He paid tribute to the two policemen who sacrificed their lives while saving a number of their colleagues from a big disaster. Swabi Judicial Complex, Shahmansoor hospital complex and offices of the district nazim, education department and excise and taxation are all located in the area targeted by the suicide bomber on Monday.

Mr Hussain inspected the premises of police lines where the bomber had blown himself up. Police officials briefed the minister on how the two killed policemen gave their lives while preventing the suicide bomber from entering into the premises where a number of policemen were present.

Meanwhile, it has been learnt that four suspected people have been arrested from different parts of the district in connection with the suicide attack. — Correspondent
