Education policy deplored

Published September 18, 2002

CHITRAL, Sept 17: The NWFP Nazim of Islami Jamiat Talaba, (IJT) Shahab Hussain, has said the privatization of  higher education institutions in the province will be resisted with full force.

Speaking at a press conference here on Tuesday, he said the privatization of educational institutions meant denial of education to the poor and the present government was pursuing this policy vigorously.

He also rejected the report of the task force on higher education calling it unrealistic which suited only to the affluent class.

The restoration of student unions in the colleges  and universities would solve almost 90 per cent of the student problems, he said.

The student leader also demanded of the government to stop experimentation in the field of education at the cost of the future of millions of the young generation. District Nazim of IJT Mir Makhzanuddin was also present on the occasion. —Correspondent
