MIRPURKHAS, Nov 10: The vice president of the Pakistan Oppressed Nations Movement (PONAM), Mehmood Khan Achakzai said that there should not be any political role of the military but the ISI was playing a central role in the external and internal affairs of the country and also creating its leaders in political parties, causing irreparable losses to the country.

He was speaking at the District Bar Association Mirpurkhas on Saturday.

He said that the democratic process was the best way for Pakistanis to achieve their political and economic goals.

He demanded full autonomy for Sindhis, Baloch, Pushtoons, and Saraikis according to the 1940 resolution.

Mr Achakzai further said we don’t want to break Pakistan, if Punjab is not ready to live with us, then we are ready to say goodbye to it.

He said that he was against any role being played by the agencies in the politics of the country as the root of internal problems of the country was this role.

He said that we wanted the freedom of Afghanistan and the Pukhtoons should have complete say in the internal and external affairs of Afghanistan.

Mr Achakzai said that Dr Najibullah was killed by some miscreants while the various countries including the UN remained tightlipped about it as a result of which today we find a dearth of political leadership in Afghanistan.

He said that PONAM wanted to introduce a new social order in the country under which all the oppressed nations would be represented.

He said that under the constitution of 1973, Sindh, Balochistan, and the NWFP had been made the colonies of Punjab.

He claimed that in our country genuine politicians were not tolerated and were also termed as traitors while those politicians who were against the very creation of this country were brought in the government.

He said that Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, Benazir Bhutto, and Nawaz Sharif created corrupt political culture in the country which had harmed the institutions.

Central PONAM leaders Dr Qadir Magsi of the Sindh Taraqqi Passand Party, Dr Abdul Hayee Baloch of the Balochistan National Movement, Hameed Asghar Shaheen of the Seraiki Quami Movement, Jalal Mehmood Shah, Maulana Ubedullah Bhutto of the Jamiat-i-Ulema (Sindh), and Maulana Azizullah Bohyo were also present on the occasion.

ASI LOOTED: The house of a police official was looted by six dacoits at the Satellite town on the wee hours of Saturday.

The dacoits barged into the house of ASI Javed Mughal and looted jewellry and cash.
