THIS is with reference to the verdict by the Sindh High Court (SHC) in favour of CSS candidates (Oct 19). The SHC has done away with the FPSC’s condition for a candidate to acquire aggregate 50 per cent marks in the written examinations of all 12 papers. Even though a candidate passed all 12 papers but if he secures 599 marks, he will not be eligible for a call for interview. However, there are some other issues in this examination system.
One of them is that a candidate securing above 700 marks is considered to have failed if he secures 39 marks in a compulsory subject; 40 marks are required to pass a compulsory subject.
On the other hand, a candidate is called for an interview if he acquires 600 marks, having cleared all papers.
All the candidates will be grateful for some drastic improvement in the above-mentioned system.
