Growers hold rally

KHAIRPUR, Sept 14: The tail-end growers of Mohabbat Wah, Mahar Shakh and Sanhro Wah continued to protest against the water shortage in Chodako, near Kotdiji, for second consecutive day here on Saturday.

The Nazim of Fatehpur union council and PPP-SB workers also joined the protest rally. The protesters said that their crops have been destroyed because of the water shortage. They accused influential landlords of selling water. Later, the protesters observed a token hunger strike.

SUICIDE: Bashir, 23, committed suicide by ingesting poison in Urs village in Nara taluka on Friday night.

KILLED: A 16-year-old girl, Marie, was killed while her cousin, Zamir Hussain, was injured in Nazal Junejo village near Pir-jo-Goth here on Friday night.

A person entered the house of Ghous Bux Junejo and opened fire on his daughter. Her cousin, who had rushed to save her, was injured. A case has been registered with Abdul Rehman Unnar police against Amir Bux Junejo. The cause behind the incident is said to be a matrimonial dispute.
