KUWAIT CITY, Sept 14: Federal Minister for Science and Technology Dr Attaur Rehman on Saturday called on Kuwaiti States Minister for Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammad Sabah Al Salem Al Sabah and conveyed a message of President Musharraf to Kuwait Amir Sheikh Jabar Al Ahmad Al Sabah on setting up of a Pan-Islamic Fund for research and development among the countries of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC).

After meeting with Sheikh Mohammad, Dr Atta told Dawn that Kuwait had shown keen interest to contribute to the Pan-Islamic Fund, which would purely meant for research and development in the science and technological spheres.

Dr Attaur Rehman, who arrived here earlier on a two-day official visit, was received by Kuwait’s Minister of Education Dr Mussad Al Haroon.

The minister for science during his visit also made presentation to the Kuwaiti IT sector authorities and informed them of the progress Pakistan has made in the field of Information Technology (IT) and the opportunities available to invest in this sector of the country.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Atta said Islamic states were in dire need of vital human and financial resources, adding that Pakistan and Kuwait shared common views on the science and technology.
