PESHAWAR: Journalist freed by Taliban

PESHAWAR, Nov 10: One of the two journalists detained by the Taliban authorities was released on Saturday on the request of Maulana Hassan Jan and Maulana Samiul Haq of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam.

Irfan Qureshi of Statesman and Mukarram Khan Atif, correspondent of Nawa-i-Waqt at Mohmand Agency, were taken into custody with a French journalist in Jalalabad some weeks back.

Irfan Qureshi was handed over to the assistant political agent of Landi Kotal at about 1pm.—PPI
