SHIKARPUR: Protest against encroachments

SHIKARPUR, Sept 13: The residents of Khanpur staged a march from Khanpur to Shikarpur on Friday to protest against encroachments at Dargahs, graveyards and other amenity plots.

They reached Shikarpur despite attempts by the police to disperse them along the way and staged a demonstration in front of the local press club.

The protestors dispersed only after being assured by the district Nazim, Mohammad Arif Mahar, and the Nazim of Khanpur taluka, Mir Mehdi Hassan Jatoi. They assured that the encroachments will be removed by Sept 26. The marchers were led by the Nazim of Khanpur union council, Ali Hyderabad Shah, Badaruddin Buriro, Muhammad Ramzan Buriro, Shamshad Ali Shah, Syed Hazaar Shah and others.

SUICIDE: Waheed Ali Buriro, 25, resident of Gul Buriro village committed suicide by shooting himself with a pistol in his house on Friday.

DISTRIBUTED: The workers of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) distributed sweets in Garhi Yasin and Shikarpur after the Election Appellate Tribunal accepted the appeals of Agha Sirajuddin Durrani, the PPP candidate from PS-9 (Shikarpur-I) and Agha Tariq Khan, the PPP candidate for PS-11 Shikarpur-III.
