Ishrat for US today

KARACHI, Sept 13: The Governor, State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), Dr Ishrat Hussain is leaving for Washington on Saturday on an official visit to the United States.

He is scheduled to return home on October 2, 2002.

According to an SBP press release here on Friday, during his visit, the SBP governor will attend the international conference on “Challenges to Central Banking from Globalized Financial System” being organized by IMF, the annual meetings of G-24, the Islamic Financial Services Board, as well as the annual meetings of IMF and World Bank Group in Washington.

He will also hold a series of meetings with the executives of the World Bank, IMF, IFC and senior bankers.

SBP Deputy Governor R. A. Chughtai has been authorized to transact all the business of the central bank in terms of Regulation 32 of the Bank’s General Regulations during the governor’s visit to US.—APP
