Aqib quits as national selector

Published September 10, 2002

LAHORE, Sept 9: Former Test cricketer Aqib Javed resigned as member of the national selection committee Monday.

Talking to Dawn Aqib said that he had submitted his resignation to the Pakistan Cricket Board and now it was at the discretion of the PCB chief Lt.Gen. Tauqir Zia whether to accept it or not.

He said that he took this decision as it would give more time as national junior team coach a post he is currently holding, so he could prepare Pakistan Junior team for a home series against Sri Lankan ‘A’ team starting from Saturday.

“After tendering the resignation I am feeling comfortable”, Aqib said.

Aqib said that he had also informed the chairman of the selection committee Wasim Bari about the decision.
