Lawyer for Nawaz files letter

Published September 10, 2002

LAHORE, Sept 9: Nawaz Sharif’s counsel provided the returning officer for NA-121 on Monday a photocopy of the PML(N) leader’s duly attested authority letter issued in favour of his counsel to withdraw his candidature from the forthcoming polls.

The RO, however, adjourned the proceedings on Nawaz’s application for withdrawal of candidature for one day when he was informed that his counsel would submit the original letter attested by the consulate general of Pakistan in Jeddah on Tuesday.

The RO on the last date of hearing had refused to permit Nawaz from withdrawing his nomination papers, saying he had not sent a duly attested authority letter.
