HYDERABAD, Sept 9: A total number of 134 schools of defunct Hyderabad and Mirpurkhas divisions have been notified for government girls primary community model school project by the Sindh education department in collaboration with the Asian Development Bank.
The project has been initiated to raise the quality of education and literacy rate, specially in rural areas.
This was informed by the executive district officer, education, Hyderabad, Kazi Zamir Hussain, while presiding over a meeting of the members of the notified schools staff selection committee at his office here on Saturday.
He said out of more than one thousand candidates who appeared in written test for 418 vacancies of primary school teachers, 576 qualified for interview, which would be conducted from Sept 16.
He said the Sindh education department had constituted a committee, comprising DCO Mir Hussain Ali as chairman, EDO (education) as secretary, and Syed Qalandar Shah Lakyari, Prof Idrees Rajput, Nizamuddin Memon, Ghulam Rasool and one representative from the Agha Khan University as members, to ensure transparent selection of teachers.
The committee, while discussing the criteria and modalities for the selection of teachers, had decided that production of residence certificate from Nazims of union councils concerned and original documents of qualification would be compulsory during the interview.
UPGRADED: The chairman, Pakistan Agricultural Research Council, Dr Badruddin Soomro, has upgraded the Agriculture Economics Unit, Tando Jam, to Transfer Technology Institute.
Dr Ali Mohammad Khushik has been appointed as the director of the institute who has already taken over the charge.
This institute will keep agriculturists posted about the latest research being conducted by the Council to improve produce.
LAST DATE: The director admissions, University of Sindh, Jamshoro, announced on Saturday that the last date to submit admission forms and admission fee by candidates of the English department (evening programme) for their next higher class — M.A final — had been fixed at September 25.
The director also notified that the last date to pay admission fee for BHP.Ed and MHP.Ed had been fixed at Sept 13.
The list of selected candidates has already been displayed at the notice board of the administration building.
BOGUS CERTIFICATE: The controller of examinations, University of Sindh, has notified for the information of all concerned that marks and degree certificates of B.A of Fateh Ali, son of Muheen Khan, annual examination of 1983, seat No 2266, are found bogus.
GSTA: The Government Secondary Teachers Association (GSTA), Hyderabad, has announced if the Sindh finance department did not withdraw its objections about the already-approved demands of teachers by Sept 16, the teachers will boycott election duties.
Their demands are award of selection grade, science teaching allowance, medical allowance and advance increment of B.Ed to teachers proceeding on study leave.
The decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of the GSTA held here the other day.
The meeting observed that under the new setup of the district government, the finance department had put the teachers into financial crisis and they were being provoked to resort to protest.
It noted 1,200 teachers were suffering due to the unreasonable attitude of the finance department.
The meeting was informed that the Sindh secretary for education had directed EDOs, education, of the province to issue orders about the selection grade and these orders were complied with but the finance department issued a directive to district account officers to stop the payment of the selection grade.
It condemned the nonpayment of salaries to female teachers of Dadu district and demanded problems of the teachers should be resolved without any further delay.
