MANSEHRA, Sept 7: The Mansehra police claim to have resolved the mystery surrounding the murder of a taxi driver slaughtered by unidentified men on July 9.

According to police, involvement of some influential figures of the area in the murder of Tanvir Hussain could not be ruled out.

The police had arrested accused Ishtiaq alias Guddu and Noor Hussain who, in their statements to the police, confessed to the crime but but later retracted their confessions in the court and, as a result, they were freed on bail by the court.

On an application of the father of Tanvir Hussain, the SSP of Mansehra handed over the case to the SHO of Oghi Police Station who arrested Rabnawaz alias Monna who, during the interrogations, made startling revelations.

On his disclosures, another person, Abdus Sattar of Baidra, was arrested while the name of another accused is being kept secret by the police.

In his statement, recorded under Section 164 of the CrPc, Rabnawaz stated that the father of Tanvir Hussain had refused Tanvir’s engagement with a girl but Tanvir had been meeting the girl.

On this, the brothers of the girl were angry and they invited Tanvir to a dinner at the house of a friend in Jallu and slaughtered him.

Later, they threw his body in a Nullah near Dhangri.
