KARACHI, Sept 7: Pakistan Army troops continuing their relief and rescue operations across Sindh evacuated 2,784 marooned people in Johi, Dadu, Mehar, Khairpur Nathan Shah and Sujawal areas over the past 24 hours, according to an ISPR (Army) press release issued here on Tuesday.

It said the troops also distributed 86 tonnes of dry ration and served meals to 34,447 flood-affected people living at various camps and along embankments of the Indus River and canals on Monday night and Tuesday.

Medical unit of the Hyderabad and Pano Aqil garrison provided treatment to more than 4,000 flood survivors, it said.

The ISPR release said that army’s engineer corps plugged an 845-feet wide breach in Tori Bund and repaired the 390-feet loop at Ghouspur.

At present the army troops from Pano Aqil and Hyderabad were looking after flood victims living in 25 relief camps, the press release said.
