Izhar laid to rest

JHANG, Sept 5: Maulana Izharul Haq was laid to rest at Jamia Mahmoodia graveyard in Jhang Saddar on Thursday.

Izhar, the son of SSP founder Maulana Haq Nawaz Jhangvi, was found murdered from a graveyard in Karachi on Sept 1.

His body was brought to Jhang from Lahore around 5am and taken to the house of Haq Nawaz Jhangvi in Mohalla Piplianwala.

Maulana Manzoor Ahmad Chinioti led the funeral prayers offered by thousands of people at the Islamia High School ground at 10am amid tight security.

Later, the participants in the funeral procession shouted slogans against President Pervez Musharraf and some political leaders.

More than 75 per cent markets and shops in the city remained closed on the call given by the Anjuman Tajran.
