LAHORE, Sept 4: Former World No 1 Jansher Khan has given up his demand for a wild card in the CAS Trophy to be held in Peshawar from Oct 19 and now decided to appear in its qualifying round.

Talking to Dawn Wednesday, Jansher said that he had  withdrawn his demand to the Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF) only to make his  case strong for a WC for World Open which is being  held  in Belgium from Dec 6-14.

According to the rules of the Professional Squash Association, a player can get only one wild car entry in one year.

Jansher said that he had communicated his decision to the PSF senior vice president Air Vice Marshal Qaiser Hussain.

The winner of eight British Open, Jansher had withdrawn  his retirement from international circuit Aug 10 after five years.

The PSF had refused him a wild card for an international tournament scheduled to be held in Karachi later this month. The PSF was also undecided either to award a wild card to Jansher or not for the Peshawar’s competition.

Jansher’s decision now has solved the problem of PSF.

Jansher said that besides World Open, he would also  compete in PSA Qatar Classic from Oct 28-Nov 2 and YMG Capital Classic, Toronto, Canada from Nov 10-15.

He said that an international company Dunlop sponsor him for his all the activities and an agreement with that company was being  finalised. The sponsoring company was also  keen to organise his exhibition matches against world top players Jonathan Power, Peter Nicol and others from  Oct 6-15.

Jansher will leave for London Oct 4 where the matches will be held.

He said that to keep himself  fit for the competitive international activities.

“I have a plan to keep continue practising in Pakistan, mostly in Peshawar and Lahore for next three weeks”.

The former world champion is doing weight training in the morning, a running session at the Gaddafi Stadium in the afternoon and  practice at the Punjab Squash Complex during his stay in Lahore.
