Judge Mahmood Maqbool Bajwa deferred hearing of the case till Sept 9 on the plea of the DSP (legal) as the police had submitted an incomplete challan, under sections 7-ATA, 148, 149, 427, 120-B, 353 and 324, for confronting with the Rangers and the police in Okara on Aug 24.

Those produced before court were AMP Chairman Anwar Javed Dogar, Muhammad Aslam, Ghulam Rasool, Muhammad Javed, Muhammad Jameel, Muhammad Saleem, Shahzad Masih, Tahir Husain and 14-year-old Muhammad Aslam, son of Manzoor Husain.

Four of the accused—Ghulam Rasool, Jameel, Shahzad Masih and Tahir Husain, had sustained bullet wounds. A bullet was reportedly still in the body of Ghulam Rasool.

Joint Action Committee for the People’s Rights’ Convener Shahtaj Qazalbash, Labour party Secretary-General Farooq Tariq and Shirkatgah’s Sohail Warraich were also present in the court.
