Two get life sentence in murder case

MANSEHRA, Sept 4: The district and sessions judge on Wednesday convicted two men of murder and sentenced them to life imprisonment.

Nadeem and Saqib Jilani were found involved in the murder of Ghulam Rehmani Kiyani, divisional director of the agriculture department, who was killed in July, 1998.

Both convicts were fined Rs50,000 each, while two other men, Mohammad Azam and Mohammad Akram, were declared proclaimed offenders in the case.

SIX HELD: The Batgram police arrested six people on Wednesday for manufacturing spurious cement at a small factory in the district.

The police had earlier arrested a truck driver and seized hundreds of bags containing fake cement from the truck (GLT-1353) in Batgram.

During interrogation, the truck driver told the police that he had brought the cement from a factory. The police swooped on the factory and seized 330 bags of spurious cement, besides 38 bags containing raw material. Six people, working at the factory, were arrested.
