Bandit arrested

SANGHAR, Sept 4: The Sanghar police claimed to have arrested a notorious dacoit, Sadiq Shar, after a brief encounter at Ban Mori, near the Mithrao canal, on Tuesday.

He was allegedly involved in more than 25 criminal cases, including murder, dacoity, and kidnapping for ransom, disclosed DPO Ghulam Qadir Thebo at a press conference at his office here on Wednesday.

The DPO said on a tip-off that the dacoit was coming to meet his mother at his village near the Mithrao canal, a police party was sent to his village.

When the dacoit came out of the village and was ordered to stop he started firing which was retaliated by the police.

The dacoit was arrested when his ammunition exhausted. A Kalashnikov was recovered from his possession.

Shar was involved in the kidnapping of Naveed Rajput, in which he extorted Rs2.5 million as ransom. His head money was Rs 1 million.
