Irish support for Jahangir

ISLAMABAD, Sept 3: The Irish Squash Federation has announced its support for the legendary Jahangir Khan, who is running for president of the World Squash Federation (WSF)

The WSF elections are to be held in Kuala Lumpur next month and will be attended by as many as 56 nations.

Pakistan squash secretary Wing Cdr. Sajid Waheed said Tuesday that they had written letters to all 56 federations seeking their support for Jahangir and the response has been encouraging.

Jahangir who will be contesting against Mike Corby of England stands a good chance of winning, Sajid said. “I personally think that Corby is not liked much by the Europeans and this should put Jahangir at an advantage.”

Sajid said that the PSF (Pakistan Squash Federation) was fully backing Jahangir and was now sponsoring his trip to this month’s Asian Games in Busan so that he could lobby for himself.

Jahangir was also at the recent Commonwealth Games for similar reasons. He is currently in London in connection with his campaign.
