ISLAMABAD, Sept 3: About 200 former MNAs and senators are yet to clear their residential and other charges for availing themselves of official residences’ facility during tenures of various government.

Officials told APP on Tuesday that these parliamentarians had been residing at various government hostels, Parliament Lodges, guest houses and hired lodges, but failed to clear their dues within the stipulated period.

A times, they also obliged their relatives and friends by providing them rooms at these official residences.

The outstanding dues were to be recovered by June 30, 2002, but, except about 50 politicians, others had not deposited defaulted money by Saturday last (August 31).

The list issued by Pakistan Public Works Department reveals details of every lodge, hostel and guest house separately. This period counts between 1985 to 2000.

Some of the parliamentarians used to avail themselves of official residential facility at more than one residences, but paid for none.

Those former MNAs who had been living at Federal Lodge one (Shah Abdul Latif Bhatai) and left without paying dues include Shabir Ahmed Khan Chandio, Rs12,700; Mohammad Iqbal Bosal, Rs12,807; Sardar Muqeen Khan Khosa, Rs82,142; Mir Bulakh Sher Mizari, Rs25,557; Ch Safdar Rehman, Rs6,215; Aziz Ahmed Khan, Rs28,522; Ch Mohammad Ashraf, Rs2,835; Mohammad Ashraf Waraich, Rs35,362; Ch Abdul Hameed, Rs1,200; Zafarullah Khan, Rs1,940; Munawar Hussain Manj, Rs48,282; Nawab Mohammad Yousaf Khan Elahi, Rs7,103; Khawaja Kamauddin, Rs47,200; Tawakalulah Virk, Rs1,943; Khurshid Alam Cheema, Rs20,608; Begum Nasreem Rao Rashid, Rs11,716; Rafique Elahi, Rs3,100; guest of Haji Ehsan, Rs110; and Dr. Asar Das, Rs6,717.

The senator who did not pay charges for Federal Lodge One include Jam Karam Ali, Rs69,171; Syed Ishtiaq Azhar, Rs49,384; Zahid Akhtar, Rs18,058; Subedar Khan Mandokhel, Rs34,758; Haji Zar Mohd Khan, Rs3,880; and Syed Iqbal Haider, Rs24,541.

The former MNAs who had been residing in federal lodges-II and failed to clear dues include Syed Sajjad Haider Shah, Rs3,915; Maulana Shaheed Ahmed, Rs5,720; Aziz Ahmed Khan, Rs110; Col W.Herbert (retired), Rs560; Naseer Mohammad Khan, Rs81,850; Mehran Khan Bijarani, Rs97,351; Begum Nasreen Rao, Rs3,829; Khawaja Kamalud Din Anwar, Rs161,747; Mian Mohammad Zaman, Rs5,439; Rashid Akbar, Rs4,060; Haji Mohammad Yaqoob, Rs15,135; and Ali Hassan Mangi, Rs11,600.

Maximum number of parliamentarians among defaulters are those who, or whose guests, used to stay at Government Lodges (1- 6), Murree, and did not pay dues. Some of them have been residing at more than one lodge.—APP
