KARACHI, Sept 3: A woman was strangled by unknown persons in her home in Surjani on Tuesday evening.

Police said unknown persons strangled Fatima, 30, with a scarf in her home in Sector 7-D, Surjani Town.

Police said victim’s three-year-old child was also found tied-up in the house.

In Shadman Town (Buffer Zone), a young man was shot dead by bandits in front of his home in Sector 14-A.

Ishtiaq Husain Qureshi had gone to a local bank with his wife. As soon as the couple reached their home after withdrawing cash, Ishtiaq felt that some men on their motorcyclists were chasing him. He handed over cash to his wife who went inside the house.

As Qureshi was parking his motorcycle, two persons riding a motorcycle came and demanded cash from him at gunpoint.

Police said as the victim told them that he had no cash and had already given it to his wife, the suspects opened fire killing him on the spot.

Hearing the gun-fire, victim’s wife rushed out of the house and found her husband lying in a pool of blood. She saw two motorcyclists fleeing at the end of the street.

She immediately informed the police on 15. Police reached the spot and shifted Qureshi to Abbasi Hospital.

However, the victim was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.

ACCIDENTS: Three persons were killed in traffic accidents on Tuesday.

An unidentified boy of about 12 years of age was hit by a speeding water tanker near Hub Chowki.

The truck driver escaped after the accident. The injured boy was rushed to a nearby private hospital on Hub River Road, where he was pronounced dead.

Police claimed to have impounded the truck (LSA-8936), which the driver left behind before fleeing.

In DHA, an elderly man was hit by a speeding truck.

Hospital sources said two young man brought the body of an unknown man in his mid-60s and told the doctors that a speeding truck had hit him.

However, the two young men later slipped away from the hospital, sources said.

In another accident, Asif Raza, 18, died in a road accident in Aziz Bhatti police limits.

Police said an unknown vehicle hit Raza, who was crossing the road. The vehicle escaped from the spot.

The victim was shifted to JPMC where he was pronounced dead by the MLO.

DIES OF BURNS: A young man died of burns in Korangi Industrial Area late on Monday night.

Police said a labourer Mustafa, 30, died of burns when a fire broke out in a towel factory.

Police said the victim got trapped inside the factory, he was shifted to the Civil Hospital where he died during treatment.

CARJACKING: At least 13 vehicles — two cars and 11 motorcycles — were either hijacked or stolen in different parts of the city on Tuesday, police said.

Two cars were hijacked while five motorcycles were taken away at gunpoint from various parts of the city. Six motorcycles were stolen by bandits.
