MUZAFFARABAD, Sept 2: Four women and two men were injured in different villages of Azad Kashmir on Monday after the Indian troops started shelling from across the Line of Control without any provocation, an official said.

Police Superintendent Raja Ghulam Sarwar told Dawn that the Indian troops targeted Tatta Pani sector villages in the Kotli district at about 11:30am, injuring two women and as many men, identified as Ismat Bibi, Shamim Begum, Barkat Hussain and Sajjad, in the villages of Chamoti, Dharra, Mandhol and Saralian, respectively. At least five houses were partially damaged.

Another woman, Farzand Begum, was injured in Sehra village in Poonch, where shelling started around the same time, the SP said, adding that the house of the victim was badly damaged. Shelling also started in Neelum valley, where one woman, Gulab Jan, 40, was injured in Revri Behak village.
