HYDERABAD: ATC awards life term to 10

HYDERABDAD, Sept 1: The Anti-Terrorism Court judge, Hyderabad, Syed Ali Ashraf Shah, on Saturday has awarded life imprisonment to 10 accused in a police encounter case in which two policemen were killed last year in the jurisdiction of the Matiari police station.

Those who were sentenced to life imprisonment included Sahib Khan Mari, Rahib Khan Khoso, Juman Chutto, and absconding accused Matloob Khoso, Mohammad Bux Khoso, Murad alias Major Khoso, Gul Hassan Khoso, Shadman Khoso, Hazoori Khoso, and Ali Barnani Khoso.

One of the accused, Jalal, was acquitted.

The court ordered the convicts to pay a fine of Rs175,000 each to the heirs, and in default of payment they would have to undergo another year of imprisonment.

The case against them was lodged under sections 6/7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act, 149, 365-A, 302 of PPC and 324 Qisas and Diyat Ordinance.

The charges in the case were framed on Aug 19 and 14 prosecution witnesses were deposed before the court.
