HYDERABAD, Sept 1: A large number of residents of American Quarters, Hali Road, Mir Fateh Colony and Piaro Lund staged a demonstration outside the district council officehere on Saturday.

They were protesting against non-availability of water in their areas.

The protesters, including women and children, carried empty pitchers on their heads and raised slogans against Wasa and Hesco.

The members of the Hyderabad Council who were attending the council meeting came out to pacify the protesters while some of them joined the protest.

The angry protesters demanded of the Nazims to resign their posts as they had failed to resolve the problems of the people.

The three talukas — Hyderabad, Qasimabad, Latifabad — are facing acute shortage of water.
