Sir Syed cagers triumph

KARACHI, Aug 31: Sir Syed Girls College emerged the winner of Karachi University Inter-collegiate basketball championship when they defeated Faculties 19-7 in a low scoring final at KU Gymnasium Friday.

Shabana Ismail played the main role in her team’s triumph by contributing eight points. Rehana Ismail (4), Nousheen Jahan (4) also performed well. Najamus Saher scored four points for Faculties.

In the second semifinal of KU football at campus ground Federal Urdu Science College beat Islamia Science College 12-0 to reach the final. Winner led 5-0 at breather.

Moiz and Asif scored three goals each while Nazeer, Farooq and Majeed scored two goals apiece.

The final of the tournament will be played Tuesday at campus ground at 1.00pm.—APP
