Four killed in accidents

LAHORE, Aug 29: Four people, including a girl student of the Punjab University, were killed in accidents in different parts of the city on Thursday.

Police said Rehana, 20, an MA student, was crossing the road near the New Campus bridge when a rashly-driven car hit her a couple of days ago. She was admitted to the General Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries on Thursday.

She belonged to Okara. Her body was handed over to the family without autopsy.

Police claimed to have arrested the driver, Sibtain.

Ibrahim, 35, the brother of journalist Abdul Qayyum, was on his way when a wagon hit him in the Bhati Gate area. He was admitted to the Mayo Hospital where he died. The body was handed over to the family without autopsy.

A 29-year-old unidentified man was run over by a bus in the Lorry Adda area. His body was sent to the city morgue.

Allah Rakhi, 50, was crossing the road in the Tibbi City area when a speeding wagon hit her. She was taken to the Mayo Hospital where she died.

ROBBERIES: Robbers struck four times in different parts of the city on Thursday.

Three gunmen entered the house of Safia Bibi on Lytton Road and escaped with cash and jewellery worth Rs400,000.

Aslam and his wife were riding a motorcycle when they were intercepted by two motorcyclists in Samanabad. The couple was deprived of cash and jewellery worth Rs20,000 at gunpoint.

Salamat was on his way to Baghbanpura when two gunmen intercepted him and deprived him of Rs18,000 in cash.
