ISLAMABAD, Oct 1: President Gen Pervez Musharraf on Monday said he has issued instructions to review the range of services for the senior citizens.

In a message read out at a seminar, arranged here to mark the ‘International Day of Elderly’, the president said a special task force of distinguished senior citizens had been constituted for the purpose.

He said the task force would consult the provincial governments and conduct studies and surveys of the elderly and its findings of would provide the basis for policy formulation and setting up of appropriate services for senior citizens.

He called on the public and private sectors to utilize the wisdom and experience of senior citizens for the well-being and development of the country.

The message was read out by Senior Citizen National Task Force Chairman Abdul Majeed Mufti.

Senor Citizens’ Foundation of Pakistan President Mahmud Ali said the country was passing through a critical juncture and asked the senior citizens to play their role for strengthening the country. He emphasized the need for redefining the word “terrorism” so that efforts would be made to eliminate it from the world.—APP
