KARACHI, Oct 8: The IG Sindh issued on Monday night orders for the suspension and registration of cases against the policemen involved in the shootout on Saturday, Oct 6, in Gulshan-i-Iqbal, in which a lawyer and his son were killed.

Three policemen, Munawwar Ali, Jameel Tanoli and Sulaiman Rasheed of the Rapid Eight Squad, had opened fire on a hijacked vehicle in which lawyer Mumtaz Ali, his son Daniyal and two hijackers were travelling, killing the lawyer and his son and one of the hijackers. The vehicle (BC-9222) of Mumtaz Ali had been hijacked in Defence by two hijackers.

When they reached near Gulshan Chowrangi, police spotted the vehicle and signalled the hijackers to stop, but the hijackers opened fire on police. Police returned the fire, police had claimed.
