KARACHI, Aug 26: Teenager Qasim Kamani produced a surprise on the first day of final phase of 7th Karachi Club (KC) Open snooker tournament when he shocked Imran Shahzad of Punjab 4-2 at KC Billiards Hall Monday.

The 18-year-old Qasim, who won the first phase stage of the tournament showed a lot of promise and strong potting to topple Pakistan number eight Imran.

Qasim won the opening two frames but Imran draw level 2-2. However inspired Qasim playing superbly took the next two frames to seal the fate of the match in Rs.50,000 event.

Pakistan number four Naveen Perwani chalked out the highest break of 70 in his 4-0 win over Uzaifa Mushtaq. Atiq Latif Bakhsh also beat Asim Ghani in straight four frames.

Former world amateur champion Muhammad Yousuf dropped a frame before overcoming Ahmed Salim.

Khurram Agha, Saleh Muhammad and Vishan Gir got walkover in their first round matches.
