ISLAMABAD, Aug 25: After the intervention of the Lahore High Court Rawalpindi bench, seven policemen were booked on charges of illegally detaining a person in a police station.
According to the police, FIR against the accused policemen was registered after Mohammad Shafiq, the victim, approached the LHC.
Shafiq was taken into custody last month by Golra police in connection with the investigation of car theft cases.
The police detained him for interrogation without registering a formal complaint against him. The relatives of Shafiq then sought the help of a bailiff and managed to recover him from police custody.
Sharif’s relatives tried to lodge an FIR against the policemen, but failed at that time. Finally, they went to the LHC to get a case registered against ASI Lal Din and six other policemen who allegedly kept Shafiq in illegal detention, police report said.
