GUJRANWALA, Aug 24: At least nine Nazimeen have resigned from their office and filed nomination papers for national and provincial assemblies’ seats on Saturday.
Reports said Kamoki tehsil Nazim, ex-MPA Chaudhry Shamshad Ahmad Khan, filed nomination papers for NA-99 and PP-100 from the PML-QA platform.
The People’s Party (parliamentarians) confirmed provincial assembly seats to Nazimeen, Dr Zafar Iqbal Chaudhry, ex-MPA Chaudhry Zahid Pervez, Lal Shakeelur Rahman and Chaudhry Muhammad Shabbir.
The PML-QA had allotted tickets to Chaudhry Muhammad Iqbal Dhariwal for PP-92, Nasir Mahmood Cheema for PP-98 and Muhammad Ashraf Butt for PP-96.
The PML-J confirmed party ticket to Advocate Mian Mazhar Javed for PP-98.
Earlier, Naushera Virkan tehsil Nazim Sardar Tariq Raza and city tehsil Nazim Ehsanullah Chaudhry intended to contest the election but soon they changed their decision.
Meanwhile, more than 25 other aspirants of various political parties filed their nominations. Among those were PML-N ex-provincial ministers, Barrister Usman Ibrahim and Chaudhry Muhammad Iqbal, and PML-J chief Chaudhry Hamid Nasir Chattha.
DIST NAZIM: The recruitment of medical staff at Divisional Headquarters Hospital and teachers in various educational institutes will soon be completed, district Nazim Fayyaz Ahmad Chattha said in a briefing on Saturday.
The Nazim said at least 30 male and female medical officers, including dental surgeons, had been recruited while another 44 would soon be recruited.
In educational institutes, he said the government had so far inducted 63 teachers, 35 for science and 28 of arts.
