Govt’s Afghan policy criticized

QUETTA, Oct 1: The provincial Amir of Jamiat Ulema Islam (JUI), Maulana Mohammad Khan Sherani, on Monday demanded that a team comprising representatives of OIC, UNO and Nato countries should investigate the terrorist attacks at the World Trade Centre and Pentagon.

Speaking at a press conference here, he said the entire world, including Islamic countries and Nato should also know who was behind the act.

He said that United States has no right to ask Afghanistan for handing over Osama Bin Laden as both the countries have no agreement regarding exchange of accused.

He said that when Afghanistan and United States had no relations then how President Bush could demand that the Afghan government hand over Osama bin Laden to his government.

The JUI leader said the Taliban government was not given membership of the United Nations and it was not bound to implement the UN decisions and resolutions.

He said Taliban had offered negotiations on the issue of Osama but the United States was not responding positively.

He strongly criticized the military government for siding with the Bush administration for attacking Afghanistan and warned that if the decision was not changed, the people of the country would strongly react and launch protest demonstrations.

Maulana Sherani urged the US leadership that it should reconsider its decision regarding attack on Afghanistan.

He advised the JUI workers to form groups, keep an eye on important places in border areas and airports, and wait for the final decision of the party.
