SUKKUR, Aug 23: Announcing his decision to join the PPP, Mujeeb Pirzada, a former PPP (SB) leader, said he would work to get a constitutional protection for Sindh’s water share.
Speaking at a press conference at the residence of PPP leader Khurshid Ahmed Shah here on Friday, he said he joined the PPP because Sindh was being subjected to excess and injustices, and PPP was the only party which stood steadfast for the rights of the people of Sindh.
Mujeeb Pirzada described the situation in the country very sensitive in view of the amendments being made to the Constitution and claimed that the people had rejected these amendments.
To a question, Mr Pirzada said he left the PPP because of differences with party leadership, which were created by certain elements. “Now these difference have been resolved after a meeting with PPP Chairperson Benazir Bhutto in London,” he added.
Mujeeb Pirzada said such differences had caused great damage to Sindh and the same were exploited by our joint opponents.
To a question, he said even if he was not awarded ticket for assembly seat, he would work with the party leadership as an ordinary worker.
He said former federal minister Aftab Shaban Mirani asked him by telephone to reach Sukkur and announce joining the PPP as Benazir Bhutto was considering his name as a National Assembly candidate from NA-199 Rohri/Pano Aqil.
