HYDERABAD, Aug 21: The central president, Wapda Hydro Electric Central Labour Union, Abdul Latif Nizamani, has cautioned the workers against disruptive elements who were trying to create differences among the workers to protect their own vested interests.

He was addressing a general workers meeting at the provincial office of the CBA union on Wednesday.

He said that the CBA union against heavy odds had strived for the welfare of the Wapda employees, which included general education for the workers’ children, free computer education, and the establishment of widow’s fund.

He said that due to the efforts of the CBA union, the salaries of the employees of grade 1 to grade 16 had been increased by Rs250 per month, the promotion quota of class IV employees had been increased by 18 per cent, the generation allowance of powerhouse employees had been restored, the employees were being provided medical treatment, and paid overtime and off-day allowance regularly.

The others who addressed the general workers meeting included Iqbal Qaimkhani, Malik Sultan Ali, Mir Khan Baloch, and Qazi Saleem Anwar, and others.
