KARACHI, Aug 20: A young housewife committed suicide in her house in Gulbahar on Tuesday.

Police said Rukhsana, aged 20, consumed poison in her house in Haji Murad goth, Gulbahar, in the morning. Her husband rushed her to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where she was admitted around 11am. She died around 2pm in the hospital.

Quoting the family, police said the woman had begun losing her eyesight which had pushed her into severe depression. She was undergoing treatment for eyesight. Rukhsana was married to Javed Shah about four years ago, and she bore him two children.

After postmortem the body was handed over to the family for burial.

CARJACKING: Sixteen vehicles — four cars and 12 motorcycles — were either hijacked or stolen in the city on Tuesday, police said.

Two cars were hijacked. Two others were stolen.

One motorcycle was hijacked. Eleven others were stolen.

Police also claimed on Tuesday to have recovered three cars and three motorcycles.

ROAD ACCIDENT: Reckless driving claimed the life of an elderly man in Korangi Industrial Area.

Police said Azizur Rahman, aged 90, was run over by a speeding minibus in sector 36-B of Korangi Industrial Area while he was on way to a relation’s house.

He was being rushed to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre but he died on the way.

The bus driver sped off after the accident.
