Rana Nazir, Munir join PML-QA

LAHORE, Aug 19: Former Punjab PML-N secretary-general and MNA from Sheikhupura Rana Nazir Ahmad and former PPP MPA from Sahiwal Chaudhry Munir Azhar joined the PML-QA on Monday.

Speaking at a press conference at the Muslim League House here, Punjab party chief Chaudhry Pervez Elahi said to cover up their flaws, the other parties were alleging that the people were joining the PML-QA under the government pressure.

He said his party’s performance had been the best in the field as 80 per cent former PML MPs had joined it, while it had also excelled in the local bodies elections.

Rana Nazir, who had been in the NAB custody in a co-operatives reference and was released recently, was reluctant to talk on changing the loyalties.

Answering questions about the state pressure, he said the restoration of democracy was only possible by treading the path being followed by the PML-QA.

Chaudhry Munir said he had been offered a PPP ticket for NA-162 for the October polls but he rejected the offer as there was no room in the party for noble politics.

He denied that there was any government pressure to join the PML-QA.

Tabish Alvari said politicians were joining the PML-QA under the pressure of electoral atmosphere which, he said, was totally in the favour of the League.
