KARACHI, Aug 19: The federal government has sanctioned Rs 5.9 million for maintenance and repair of Wazir Mansion.

This was stated by the director of archaeology at a meeting held on Monday.

The city district government has also sanctioned Rs243,468 to carry out urgent maintenance and repair of Wazir Mansion, of which Rs 146,312 have already been spent.

Nazim Saddar Town Farooq Faria told the meeting he had posted permanent sweepers at Wazir Mansion from July as per instructions of the Ombudsman.

DIG Traffic Saud Mirza said no parking area had been created on 100 square yards on both sides of the road where Wazir Mansion is situated.

It was resolved that steel wiring be fastened in front of Wazir Mansion preventing entrance from either side to frontage.

The next meeting will be held on Aug 28 at Wazir Mansion to examine PC-1 submitted by department of archaeology and review further progress.—PPI
