SARGODHA, Aug 17: More than 20 union council Nazimeen and Naib Nazimeen voiced concern on Saturday about the police attitude.

They alleged that the police were treating a murder suspect, reported to be a brother of a senior army officer, like a VIP.

Chaudhry Muhammad Saleem, the UC 150 Nazim said his brother, Muhammad Asghar, was killed on July 28. He said one Saleemullah, a brother of Col Nasrullah, was nominated in the FIR but the City area police had taken no action against him. The investigation has since been shifted to the CIA.

The Nazimeen, Rana Abdul Shakoor, Mian Muhammad Saleem, Haji Muhammad Iqbal, Dr Muhammad Rizwan, Haji Ghulam Rasool, Khalid Waheed Piracha, Muhammad Ashfaq, Muhammad Nadeem Khawar, Muhammad Rizwan Gill, Haji Ata Muhammad, Rana Liaquat Ali, Malik Abid Husain Awan, Fayyaz Ahmad Othi, Malik Arshad Basana, Syed Nawab Ali Bukhari, Rao Abdul Ghaffar, Malik Mahmood Husain Awan and Iftikhar Ahmad Sindhu and Public Safety Committee member Syed Mahmood Bakhsh warned of agitation if the police failed to act against the accused within a week. Chaudhry Muhammad Saleem said he would fast unto death.

RECRUITMENT: The Punjab governor has issued a directive lifting the ban on recruitment of patwaris and directed that 50 per cent of the vacancies should be filled. The governor has also allowed relaxation in age up to ban period (since Oct 30, 1993).
